Health: Mental Health and Well-Being
Students begin by exploring the different dimensions of healthy intra-and interpersonal relationships. They next examine stress and the importance of learning to manage it. Next, students are introduced to the concept of neurodiversity and some of the characteristics of neurodiverse people. A discussion of mental health, mental illness, and suicide prevention follows. Students then explore the short-and long-term effects of violence on health and look at ways to prevent or reduce violence. The semester concludes with an overview of end-of-life care, death and dying, and the grieving process.
