This course is designed to be an independent arts and crafts playtime experience for the first-grade student. In this course, children’s’ inherent artistic imagination and creativity focus on the basics of art and making art. Students are introduced to primary colors, the color wheel, shapes such as lines and circles, and concepts such as symmetry. Young artists explore a variety of media such as pastels, watercolors, crayons, tempera, and pencil drawing as they create a watercolor tree, use a printing block, produce weather painting, and produce a watercolor painting.
